Pleasant Notes of Oungum

The art performance has been given distinctively on holidays and several occasions every year in the Tongdaewon District Hospital.

In particular, oungum ensemble evoked the admiration of audience.

True to the Party’s intention to encourage the popularization of national musical instruments, the hospital paid special attention to preserving the national flavour in the mass artistic activities.

While putting on the stage many folk songs popular among our people, it saw to it that the works were wonderfully completed in good combination with the national instruments.

In those days, the oungum ensemble became pride of the hospital.

The oungum is a new national stringed instrument which preserves well the characteristic of noble tune quality as a our country’s national instrument and is made in keeping with the aesthetic sense of the time.

Attractive Competitive Show of National Dishes

A few days ago, the Yokjon Restaurant of the Public Catering Establishment in Sinuiju Municipality was livened up unusually with a competitive show of national dishes on lunar New Year’s Day.

The restaurant, which is famous for making folk dishes well, has frequently organized such shows.

Judges were a merited cook Ri Chun Yong, who has been working in the public catering sector for dozens of years, visitors loving national dishes.

Whose dishes would be appreciated?

In the restaurant were a head cook, who was highly appreciated at the national food festivals and contests, and new cooks.

While looking round the cold noodle, beef stew and other dishes presented by them to the contest, the judges kept their eyes on whitebait soup, a regional special dish cooked by an waitress.

It was that the atmosphere of the restaurant made her make the characteristic national dish and present to the contest.

At the show held that day amid the interest of many persons, all the dishes were highly appreciated.

Pride in Making Natinal Clothes

Recently, lots of guests visit the Phyongchon Tailor’s Shop No.1 under the Phyongchon District General Tailor’s Shop to make mew national clothes on the lunar New Year’s Day.

Whenever greeting them, Pae Chun Bo working at the shop feels pride to the full of making natioal clothes.

Pae received the highest award at the 2023 Autumn Clothes Exhibition for the high embroidery and experienced clothes-processing technology.

On the day of receiving the prize, Pae said to the persons who asked about the reason that the colours and patters of national clothes required by the visitors are different, but all of them take an pride in the beautiful and noble clothes, adding that whenever seeing the women in the national clothes, Pae feels unnameable pride of national clothes makers.

Even now, Pae and other servants at the shop have devoted their wisdom and zeal to making national clothes.
