Trade Union Officials Make Study Tour of Revolutionary Battle Sites in Mt Paektu Area

Officials of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea (GFTUK) from across the country made a study tour of the revolutionary battle sites in the area of Mt Paektu from Feb. 6 to 12.

They visited Chairman Kim Jong Il’s birthplace in the Paektusan Secret Camp after making a study tour of Chongbong and Konchang bivouacs.

At the Sobaeksu Valley where Kim Jong Il was born, they laid a floral basket and bouquets before the mosaic depicting the peerlessly great persons and paid tribute to them.

They also looked round historic relics preserved at the birthplace of Kim Jong Il in the Paektusan Secret Camp and trees bearing slogans, precious treasures of the revolution.

They climbed Mt Paektu and deeply cherished once again the immortal revolutionary career and exploits of the peerlessly great men who led the Korean revolution to victory with the soul and spirit of Paektu.

They held an oath-taking meeting at the plaza before the statue of Kim Jong Il in Samjiyon City.

Led by Pak In Chol, chairman of the Central Committee of the GFTUK, the participants vowed to make patriotic devotion to the ongoing general advance for implementing the resolutions of the December 2023 Plenary Meeting of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea and the 19th Enlarged Meeting of the Political Bureau of the 8th WPK Central Committee with the indomitable revolutionary spirit of Paektu and the Chollima spirit of the new era as a powerful driving force for advance.

During the march, they conducted colorful political and cultural activities including a meeting to hear impressions of the reminiscences of anti-Japanese guerillas, contest of singing revolutionary songs in chorus while marching in array and poem recitation.
