Week of Film Show Opens in DPRK

A week of film show for celebrating the Day of the Shining Star was opened in the DPRK on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Chairman Kim Jong Il, the greatest auspicious February holiday of the nation.

Documentary films including "Shining Star of Mt Paektu" and "Shine, Jong Il Peak" dealing with the noble revolutionary career and undying exploits of the Chairman will be shown at cinemas and houses of culture in Pyongyang Municipality and regional areas during the week.

Feature films "Former Bodyguard", "The Family of Kubong Pass" and "Ask Yourself" will also be screened.

An opening ceremony took place at the Pyongyang International Cinema House on Feb. 12.

Present there were Jo Kyong Jun, vice department director of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK), Ri Myong Chol, secretary of the Pyongyang Municipal Committee of the WPK, officials, creators and artistes in the film sector and working people in the city.

Jong Yong Nam, director-general of the National Administration of Motion Picture Industry, made an opening address.

At the end of the ceremony the participants watched a documentary film "To Hold the Fatherly General in High Esteem Forever".

A week of film show was opened in all provinces of the country on the same day.
