Politics 2024.2.14.

Enlarged plenary meetings of Pyongyang municipal and provincial committees of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) were held in the DPRK to push ahead with the implementation of the WPK’s Regional Development 20×10 Policy.

Attending the meetings were members and alternate members of every provincial Party committee. Present there as observers were officials of Party and power organs, administrative and economic organs, major industrial establishments in provinces, cities and counties.

The plenary meetings discussed and decided on the practical tasks to level up the basic material and cultural living standards of regional people by implementing the Party’s new regional development policy without any deflection and defect.

Reports were made there.

The participants were briefed on the concrete plans to carry through the resolution of the 19th Enlarged Meeting of the Political Bureau of the 8th Central Committee of the WPK on bringing about a regional-industry revolution.

The reporters referred to the issues for the non-permanent provincial committees for promoting the Regional Development 20×10 Policy to draw up realistic and scientific plans for implementing the Party’s regional-industry development policy and strengthen the control and guidance over the operation of factories to be newly built and the supply of raw materials necessary for them.

Special attention was given to the issues of assigning specific tasks to every unit and dynamically launching an ideological offensive to inspire the masses to carry out the Party’s policies in order to perfectly fulfill the first year’s task for implementing the regional-industry development policy.

The meetings stressed the need for the provincial, city and county Party committees to conduct the operation and command for upgrading regional industry in a bold way, train technicians and skilled workers for the factories to be newly built under a well-worked-out plan and push ahead with building raw material bases under the direct guidance of Party committees.

The plenary meetings also discussed practical issues for improving the economy and people’s life of cities and counties by making good use of the mountains in mountainous regions and the sea in coastal regions.

Speeches were made there.
