National Pencil Drawing Festival Opens to Mark Day of Shining Star

The 10th National Pencil Drawing Festival opened in the DPRK to celebrate the birth anniversary of Chairman Kim Jong Il, the Day of the Shining Star.

Presented to the festival are more than 300 pencil drawings of diverse themes and forms created by art experts, fans, school youth and children across the country.

On display at the festival venue are works dealing with the revolutionary career and exploits of Kim Jong Il.

There are pencil drawings "Hum of machines in Ryongsong" and "Ours is the best", which reflect the eye-opening reality of the country and the spirit of the Korean people writing a new history of overall state prosperity.

Some drawings show the worthwhile and civilized life of the people enjoying all blessings under the care of the Workers’ Party of Korea.

An opening ceremony took place at the Pyongyang International House of Culture on Tuesday.

Present there were Ju Chang Il, department director of the Central Committee of the WPK, officials concerned, creators and working people in Pyongyang Municipality.

Minister of Culture Sung Jong Gyu made an opening address.

At the end of the ceremony the participants looked round the drawings on display.
