Ice Sculpture Festival Goes on in DPRK

The Ice Sculpture Festival-2024 in celebration of the Day of the Shining Star, the birthday of Chairman Kim Jong Il, is going on with splendor in Samjiyon City, Ryanggang Province of the DPRK. This event was opened on Feb. 9 to mark the greatest national holiday of February.

Inhabitants in Ryanggang Province and officials, working people, service personnel, youth and students from across the country to have a study tour of the revolutionary battle sites in the area of Mt Paektu have visited the festival venue every day.

Looking up to the portrait of smiling Kim Jong Il displayed in the center of the festival venue, visitors recall the great exploits performed by the peerlessly great man who made ceaseless high-intensity forced march all his life.

The ice sculptures on display are associated with the Korean people’s intense loyalty and deep reverence for Kim Jong Il.

There are also works reflecting the faith of all the people to steadfastly carry on the march started from Mt Paektu along the course of horseback march made by the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.

On display there are ice sculptures depicting Samjiyon City, which has turned into a model of mountain cultural town under the care of the Workers’ Party of Korea, and ice sculptures with strong political, ideological and motivational contents that inspire the masses to the struggle for attaining the major 12 goals of national economic development.

There are also ice sculptures depicting the national symbols and reflecting the happy looks of people.
