The General Association of Koreans in China held events to celebrate the 82nd birth anniversary of Chairman Kim Jong Il.

Floral baskets were laid before the statue of President Kim Il Sung at Yuwen Middle School in Jilin and portraits of smiling Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and the art works depicting them at the DPRK embassy in Beijing, the DPRK missions in Shenyang and Dandong from the General Association of Koreans in China, the Association of Korean Women in China, the Association of Young Korean Nationals in China, and the Jilin City branch of the Jilin Regional Association, the Zhongnan Regional Association and the Dandong City branch of the Liaoning Regional Association under the General Association of Koreans in China, the family of Hwang Paek Ha, a China-resident Korean related to the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle, and the family of Hong Yong Sun, former vice-chairperson of the Jilin Regional Association.

A meeting of the General Association of Koreans in China took place on Feb. 16.

Present there were Chairwoman Choe Un Bok and other senior officials of the General Association of Koreans in China, members of the Federation of Korean Economic Workers in China and the Association of Young Korean Nationals in China, officials of the Liaoning Regional Association of the General Association of Koreans in China and Koreans in the Shenyang City branch.

The reporter said that Kim Jong Il was a benevolent father and great teacher who always remembered overseas Koreans and showed all sorts of paternal loving care for them till the last moments of his life.

Under the wise guidance of the respected Marshal Kim Jong Un world-startling miraculous successes have taken place one after another in all fields including politics, economy, military affairs and culture of the homeland, instilling the people in the homeland and overseas compatriots with confidence in sure victory and optimism about socialism, she said, calling upon all the people to make contributions to the prosperity and development of the country true to the leadership of Kim Jong Un.

Then followed an art performance and reception.

Officials and members of the General Association of Koreans in China watched a documentary film dealing with the immortal revolutionary career and exploits of Kim Jong Il on Feb. 15.

Meanwhile, colorful events including study of documentary films, round-table talks and oath-taking meetings were held by the Yanbian Regional Association, the Mudanjiang Regional Association, the Changbai County branch of the Jilin Regional Association, the Harbin City branch of the Harbin Regional Association and other affiliated organizations of the General Association of Koreans in China.
