South Hwanghae Province in the DPRK is pushing ahead with the waterway project to send fresh water of the Kangryong Lake to fields.
The project is a task to remove more than 200 000 cubic meters of earth and build many structures including pumping stations.
When the project is completed, thousands of hectares of farmlands will be watered. Among them are 1 200 hectares of the newly reclaimed tideland paddy fields, to say nothing of the farmlands in Sikyo, Kwangchon and Inbong-ris in Kangryong County, which were once pressed for water shortage.
The province worked out a detailed plan to finish the waterway project in a short span of time and in a qualitative way so that fresh water can be supplied to the water-deficit areas.
The project is progressing apace as the internal reserves and potentials of the province are being mobilized and used to the maximum.
The project has been conducted in a three-dimensional way amid the active socialist emulation between the city and counties, and the overall waterway mainly took shape thanks to the devoted efforts of the officials and working people involved in the project.
Meanwhile, officials, workers and technicians of relevant units in charge of the production of equipment including large water pumps, motors and transformers are working hard to supply them in time.
