And the Popun Temple is nestled in the south side of the mountain.
It was built in the period of Koguryo(B.C.277-A.D.668) and the present one was reconstructed in the days of Korean Feudal Dynasty(1392-1910).
The temple which consists of a main hall and pavilions lies harmoniously with a bluff cliff in line with the terrain condition boasting of the hoary beauty with Mt Ryongak for its background.
The gable roofs, columns and colorful paintings elicit the admiration of the visitors for the wisdom of the ancestors.
Under the Party’s policy on preserving cultural heritage of the nation, the Popun Temple is preserved in its original state.
