Mt Myohyang is famous for its beautiful sceneries and also for historical relics. The Tangun Shrine is one of them which used to be dedicated to the memory of King Tangun, the ancestral father of the Korean nation.

The shrine is located in the cave in the middle of the cliff.

The shrine served both as living room and pavilion. It is 16 meters long and 12 meters wide. The room in which the memorial service was held has a portrait of King Tangun and in front of the portrait there is an altar.

The building of the Tangun Shrine matches with the surroundings well and reminds people of a crane unfurling its wings.

The Tangun Shrine has been preserved well thanks to our Party’s policy on protection of national heritages.
