From old times, our people have created and carried forward various customs in line with the seasonal characteristics of April.

The subdivisions in April are the Chongmyong(the tomb-sweeping day) and the Kogu(the grain rain).

The Chongmyong means the time when the sky gets serene.

On the Chongmyong, our people used to clear off the traces of winter and spread flower seeds in their gardens while planting fruit trees around their houses.

Besides, our people regarded the Chongmyong as the tomb-sweeping day.

The Kogu means the rainfall good for grains.

On the Kogu or thereabouts, as it was an important time affecting a year’s farming, the people used to spend busy days with farming.

On these subdivisions, our people used to play various folk games and caught the fishes in rivers and sea.

April 4th and 19th are the Chongmyong and Kogu for this year.
