Officials and working people of the DPRK have completed in the main the irrigation waterway construction and the construction and repair of groundwater facilities planned for this year.

The central headquarters for irrigation construction project worked out detailed plans for the project and carried on the dynamic operation and guidance while giving precedence to the supply of materials.

The project for repairing Kaechon-Lake Thaesong and Phyongnam irrigation waterways was staged on a full scale. Shock brigade members in charge of the waterway construction ensured full operation of pumps, mixers and other equipment and introduced technical innovation proposals including to shorten the time for setting up formwork, thus completing the repair project.

Nampho Municipality finished the pipe-burying project for the Ryonggang arterial waterway tens of days earlier than scheduled. Meanwhile, officials and working people in the municipality, involved in the project to expand the capacity of the West Sea Barrage-South Phyongan Provincial inland waterway, removed more than 450 000 cubic meters of bottom soil in waterway section reaching over 30km.

Officials and working people in South Hwanghae Province made efforts to finish the waterway project for supplying freshwater of Lake Kangryong to vast farm fields.

North Phyongan Province put spurs to the project for expanding the waterway of the Woldo Tideland through a coordinated army-people operation.

The construction and repair of groundwater facilities were launched throughout the country. As a result, thousands of groundwater facilities have been built or repaired.

North Hwanghae Province set the order of priority for reinforcement of irrigation facilities and pushed ahead with it and South Phyongan Province built and repaired hundreds of groundwater facilities in a short span of time.
