Chongryu Pavilion is one of the historical relics on Moran Hill, Pyongyang.
At Chongryu Pavilion one can see the beautiful landscape of River Taedong, the Rungna People’s Pleasure Park and Munsu Street.
The pavilion had been an upper storey of Jonghae Gate, west gate of the inner walls of Pyongyang in the Koguryo age. Afterwards the gate was removed and its upper storey was shifted to the present location. People made it a pavilion and called it Chongryu Pavilion as it was located on the Chongryu Cliff.
It is a single-storeyed pavilion.
The crane-shaped roof on 10 pillars adds beauty to the Chongryu Cliff.
As it was a upper storey, it has a wide middle room unlike many other pavilions.
The pavilion shows high architecture of our ancestors.
During the war, the Chongryu Pavilion was severely destroyed due to the barbaric bombing of the US imperialists; however, it was restored to normal thanks to our Party’s policy on protecting the national heritage. Now, it becomes a pride of Moran Hill to be visited by many people for rest.
