Ryonju Pools are situated in Okryu Valley of Kuryongyon District in outer Kumgang of famous Mt Kumgang.

There is a high cliff in the north and Kuryong Pool is in the place 400 meters away southwest. The Ryonju Pools consist of two ponds appeared by erosion action of glacier and water for a long time.

The upper pond is small but the lower one, big.

The upper one is 10 meters long, about 5-6 meters wide and 6 meters deep. And the lower is 20 meters in length, abut 8-9 meters in width and 9 meters in depth.

The waterfall between two ponds is 3-4 meters high.

The pools represent the peculiar landscape in the Okryu Valley and its name means that two blue gems are linked in a line.

The pools are the beauty spots adding to the natural scenery, in good harmony with the surrounding mountains.
