Work for Future of the Country

One August day in Juche 101 (2012), the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un met senior officials of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea and gave precious instructions to attach importance to science and technology.

Mentioning that the Party had recently put forth lots of slogans related to the idea of attaching importance to science, he taught that they must not remain as mere slogans but be applied to practice.

He continued that the work for the future of the country had to be attached importance to and that an unsparing investment must be channeled into the scientific field.

Bearing his instructions in mind, the officials reminded themselves of the true meaning of the far-reaching idea of prioritizing science set forth by the respected General Secretary who regards development of science and technology as a far-reaching undertaking of great importance for the future of the country.

They looked back with remorse upon the shortcomings revealed in their work for investment in science and technology and improvement of the research and living conditions of scientists.

They made up their minds to remain loyal to the Party’s idea of attaching importance to science with action, not just giving verbal support and shouting slogans.

True Meaning of His Humor

One day in May Juche 103 (2014), the respected General Secretary inspected the apartment houses for lecturers of Kim Chaek University of Technology under construction.

Watching the framework of the apartment houses resembling a sailing boat on the River Taedong, he said satisfactorily that it gave him pleasure to think such splendid houses would be given to lecturers and researchers of the university.

In fact, like many other construction projects, the apartment houses for the university lecturers were closely related with the loving care and devotion of the respected General Secretary.

He had given detailed instructions on the exterior and interior designs and even on models of building materials.

Regardless of the pains and troubles he had taken, he appreciated the efforts of the officials in the designing and building fields.

Heading toward an apartment house, he said to the accompanying officials that to expect success in research without providing lecturers and researchers with good living conditions was as good as expecting a chicken to be hatched out from a boiled egg.

It was, indeed, a meaningful comment.

It was an admonitory humor pointing out the mistakes of some officials who failed to pay due attention to science and technology.

The officials looked at the beautiful feature of the apartment houses once again.

Their hearts were full of the noble intention of the respected General Secretary that ours couldn’t be built into a powerful country without science and only when utmost efforts were channeled into development of science and technology, could the giant tree of socialist powerful country grow sound and strong based on stout roots.
