Number of Animals Grows at Central Zoo

Culture 2024.6.11.

The number of animals grows at the Central Zoo in the DPRK, built into a base for the people’s cultural and emotional life.

This year alone, many animals, including Lesser Sulphur-crested Cockatoo and Shih tzu which are gift animals, have bred.

A Lesser Sulphur-crested Cockatoo gave birth to the young in January.

In March, a Shih tzu had two puppies (males) and at that time, they weighed 110 grams and their length was about 10 centimeters.

In April, a filial generation of Ring-tailed Lemur, a gift animal, produced a young.

A Korean Tiger had a litter of three cubs (one male and two females), weighing 0.8-1 kilogram, and they are now weighing 8.5-9 kilograms.

A Selenarctos thibetanus brought forth a female cub weighing 500 grams and its weight is about 15 kilograms at present.

More than 60 species of animals have bred 200-odd young at the Central Zoo this year.
