Among the masterpieces created in the Chollima era is "A Bumper Harvest in the Chongsan Plain".

The work created in 1960 was written by Kim Sang O and composed by Kim Ok Song. It is well known as the typical mixed orchestra of the DPRK.

Grain output of the country far increased in Juche 49 (1960) and our country was developing at high speed.

People of Chongsan-ri were among the agricultural workers of the Chollima era, who created a new history of the socialist agricultural development under the leadership of President Kim Il Sung.

Life of the people in Chongsan-ri who stood in the van as the model of socialist agricultural workers gave a great creative excitement to the composer who was striving to compose an orchestra representing realities of the Chollima era.

He experienced the reality in person while living with agricultural workers at Chongsan-ri and created a music reflecting joy and optimism of the people of the Chollima era and harvest pride and happiness of the agricultural workers of the country, thus presenting an orchestra and chorus "A Bumper Harvest in the Chongsan Plain".

The merry and passionate masterpiece was developed as our style original orchestra mixed the national instruments with Western musical instruments in 1970 under the energetic leadership of Chairman Kim Jong Il.

The orchestra "A Bumper Harvest in the Chongsan Plain" presenting peculiar tone quality of the mixed orchestra by effectively using saenap, the national woodwind and percussion instrument, is the model of the Juche-oriented instrumental music.

Until now, the masterpiece resounds in all socialist farm fields where the new era of rural revolution is being ushered in under the wise leadership of the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un.
