Chongbaek Aromatic Tree, Living Monument

Chongbaek aromatic tree grows in Chongbaek-ri, Kumya County of South Hamgyong Province of the DPRK.

The tree was planted in about 1550. It is 10 meters high and the girth of its root neck is 5.4 meters and the width of its crown from east to west is 18 meters and that from north to south 21 meters.

The tree has three large branches and their girths are respectively 2.6m, 2.1m and 2.2m.

Chongbaek aromatic tree is the biggest and oldest tree in the east coastal areas. It is of significance of researching the sizes and ages of aromatic trees. The tree is a living monument adding scenic beauty of the village.
