From the outset of New Year, the officials and educators of Pyongyang University of Foreign Studies were burnt with enthusiasm for making bigger stride in improving the education into the world-level one this year, together with those of educational units in charge of their regions.

In February last year, there was a consultative meeting of the officials at the university; the meeting discussed carrying out without fail the Party’s intention to narrow the differences in the level of education between the central and local areas.

At the meeting, the officials selected a department, to be in charge of assisting the educational units in local areas, and took practical measures for improving the contents of education and teaching methods of the relevant units, as well as the teachers’ abilities in foreign languages.

According to this, the educators of the university regularly went to the local areas to positively assist the education through itinerant lectures, dissemination of teaching reference data and short course for reeducation.

In those days, they devoted their sincerity to the improvement of the education.

Among them were Head of the department Hwang Yong Nam, who ensured the course in a responsible manner despite his old age; Ri Yong Bok who created the useful method of study; and Ra Yong Sil who showed the kindred affection to the teachers participated in the course.

In addition, the officials of the university and Pyongyang Foreign Languages School actively supported a higher technical middle school in rural area, sending the modern teaching information equipment and experimental apparatus to the school.

Thanks to their devoted efforts, a student from a local university under their charge was crowned champion in the foreign language contest and the level of education in foreign languages was further improved at several units.

Now the officials and educators of Pyongyang University of Foreign Studies mapped out the detailed plan for narrowing the differences in the level of education between the central and local areas this year, and are full of enthusiasm for contributing to the educational development of the country by intensifying the guidance and assistance.
