 July is the sultriest month in a year.

There are "the beginning of the summer heat" and "the height of summer" in July. They are the 11th and 12th of the 24 seasonal divisions according to the lunar calendar.

From old times our people take peculiar foods in the dog days. Among those foods are dog meat soup, chicken soup boiled with ginseng, rice gruel boiled with red-beans, etc.
