Fertilizer Is Rice, Rice Is Socialism

One day in June, Juche 102 (2013), the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un inspected the Namhung Youth Chemical Complex.

Looking up to him, who visited their complex on such a sultry day, the officials felt a lump in their throat. He shared pleasant greetings with them and made rounds of the complex.

Presently, he approached the fertilizer packaging process.

There, the fertilizer showering down from the conveyor was packaged in jute bags.

The respected General Secretary was so delighted to see bags of fertilizer conveyed in a row.

The officials fell into deep thoughts.

Shortly ago, he had said that the fertilizer heaped up in the warehouse seemed like rice to him.

His satisfaction vividly showed how anxious he was to solve the food problem for people.

Looking around the officials, the respected General Secretary stressed that fertilizer means rice and rice means socialism and that the complex was the first arsenal for the struggle to defend socialism.

That day, he acquainted himself with the problems arising in increasing fertilizer output and solved them in person.

The first arsenal for the struggle to defend socialism-these words reflected the great trust of the respected General Secretary who expects the complex to produce a larger amount of fertilizer and thus play a significant role in today’s struggle to increase agricultural production and steadfastly defend socialism.

In Order for People to Get Actual Benefits

In June ten-odd years ago, the respected General Secretary gave a field guidance at the greenhouse of the then Songhak Co-op Farm in Anju City.

At that time, the farm was producing different vegetables like cabbages, lettuces, crown daisies, red peppers, cucumbers and tomatoes all the year round using solar heat, thus contributing to the dietary life of the farmers.

Making the round of the vegetable greenhouse consisting of several buildings, the respected General Secretary referred to the vegetable greenhouse construction zeal that pervaded the whole country and said that he came to check in person if the vegetable greenhouses actually paid off.

He learnt in detail the kinds of vegetables they cultivated, how they provided heat in winter and ventilation in summer and the annual vegetable output.

When he heard answers from the officials, he said that it was good for the farm to have built a big-capacity vegetable greenhouse on its own and supply various vegetables to farmers, and emphasized that they should run the greenhouse properly and let the farmers actually benefit from them.

Presently, he asked one by one how many vegetable greenhouses had been built in the province, how much vegetable had been produced and which unit was running the greenhouse well.

Then, he earnestly requested once again that vegetable greenhouses had to be built according to standard designs in order for people to get actual benefits from them.

In order for people to get actual benefits!

Bearing his earnest request in minds, the officials keenly felt the ardent love of the respected General Secretary who cares so much to improve people’s dietary life.
