A memorial event was held by the Social Confederation of Koreans in Russia (SCKR) on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the demise of President Kim Il Sung.

Members of the SCKR laid a floral basket and made a bow before the art work depicting the images of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il at the DPRK embassy in Moscow on July 7.

A memorial meeting of the SCKR took place in Moscow on July 8.

Present there were Kim Chil Song, chairman of the International Social Confederation of Koreans and chairman of the SCKR, and members of the SCKR.

Speakers at the meeting said that President Kim Il Sung was the benefactor of national restoration who crossed the Amnok River, pledging not to return home unless Korea became independent, and liberated the country in the end by waging an armed struggle against the Japanese imperialists.

They said that the President led the building of a new country, the Fatherland Liberation War, postwar reconstruction and socialist construction to victory and laid a firm foundation for the independent development of the country.

The greatest exploit performed by the President is that he successfully solved the issue of succession to the revolutionary cause, guaranteeing the future and prosperity of the country, they noted, adding that thanks to his brilliant foresight, the DPRK is demonstrating to the whole world the might of a world-class power.

The speakers stressed that the politics of independence pursued by the President is being carried forward invariably, adding that the DPRK is demonstrating its might as a dignified power of independence under the wise leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.
