National Emergency Response Committee Meets

A meeting of the National Emergency Response Committee was held on Monday through video-conferencing.

Presiding over the meeting were Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK), vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and premier of the Cabinet, and Jon Hyon Chol, secretary of the WPK Central Committee.

Present there were members of the National Emergency Response Committee, senior officials of commissions, ministries, national agencies, armed forces organs and Party and power organs and agricultural guidance organs in provinces, cities and counties.

The meeting reviewed the management of natural disaster crisis in the first half of the year.

A report was made at the meeting.

The report referred to the achievements made in the work to further strengthen the natural disaster warning system so as to rapidly cope with the sudden disaster crisis including typhoon, earthquake and tidal wave and raise the awareness of officials, inhabitants and employees to cope with the crisis.

The deviations and causes revealed in the management of the natural disaster crisis during the first half of the year were strictly analyzed and reviewed in a data-based way.

The meeting stressed the need for all officials to thoroughly implement the decisions of the plenary meetings of the Party Central Committee by establishing a strict system of managing the natural disaster crisis in their fields and units.

It highlighted the need for agricultural guidance organs at all levels to strictly establish the agricultural technology measures to minimize the damage of crops from disastrous abnormal weather.

It underlined the need for electricity power field, coal industry field, land and environment protection, urban management, railway transport and all other fields to find out all vulnerable objects and take practical and time measures, and establish a regular warning and information system and system of control and report.
