In Front of a Meaningful Picture
It was late at night but Pak Un Sil, a worker of the Pothonggang District Cereal Administration Agency, remained restless.
She gazed for a while at a picture of hers which she had taken with her comrades-in-arms in the days of military service on the front for rehabilitating disaster areas in the northern part of the country.
She pictured to her mind the faces of her comrades-in-arms at that time who volunteered to work in the areas by the sweat of their brow, even postponing their discharge from military service.
As a soldier, she had gone through thick and thin to remain true to the Party’s call and made only the report of victory and completion to the respected General Secretary
Although she had been demobilized, nothing would be impossible if she lived and worked in the spirit of those days, she thought.
Hence, Pak volunteered to work in the flood-hit areas with this meaningful picture kept in her breast, making up her mind to repay the great trust of the Party with proud labor achievements.
A Day before Departure
The day was drawing in silently.
But the volunteers of the Moranbong District Construction Brigade continued to work.
They must leave for the theater for recovery from flood damage next day, however they worked devotedly at their working site till late at night. Then, why?
Days ago, officials and employees of the construction brigade buckled down to an all-night struggle for supply of domestic water looking up in tears to the image of the respected General Secretary who inspected the inundated areas in North Phyongan Province.
They thought: now every person of the brigade does the work of two or three day and night; if we who volunteered first in response to the Party’s call, slack our efforts even a moment, we have no right to be called the members of regiment of Party members.
Thus they would come to the construction site to work till late at night.
As they regarded it as natural duty and mission to adorn each moment of struggle and life with tireless devotion in the face of difficulties, they devoted their loyal and patriotic sweats at the working site until the day ahead of departure.
Out of Enthusiasm for Repayment
Several days ago Yu Yong Chol petitioned the primary Party committee of the Hwasong District Road Administration Office for listing himself as a volunteer for rehabilitation of flood-hit areas and obtained its approval.
As a result he became a member of honourable regiment of Party members.
Here goes an uncommon story.
A few months ago Yu Yong Chol became an owner of splendid dwelling house newly built in the Hwasong area and has led a happy life thanks to the benevolence of the Party. And then he received the decision of the Political Bureau of the Party Central Committee. Upon receiving the decision he was full of enthusiasm for repayment. Therefore he volunteered to join the regiment of Party members first; however, the Party organization was not willing to give consent to his proposal considering his advanced age.
But officials could not help repressing their emotion after hearing his ardent petition and granted his proposal.
Yu Yong Chol thereupon left for the rehabilitation area as a member of regiment of Party members with single mind to display the honor of capital city Party member.
