The revolutionary song "Song of the Revolutionary Army" is well known among our people. It was created by the anti-Japanese guerillas in the mid-1930s when the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle was conducted through severe hardships in a keen way.

Then the song was sung widely in regions including North and South Hamgyong provinces in Korea and east Manchuria in China as it showed the indefatigable revolutionary spirit, fighting will and revolutionary optimism of the anti-Japanese revolutionary forerunners who devoted their lives to the revolution in the face of manifold difficulties.

The song reflected the heroic spirit and noble spiritual world of the anti-Japanese revolutionary forerunners who made a long journey of bloody battles with firm confidence in sure victory and firm determination to fight with devotion for the victory of revolution while overcoming severe cold, hunger and all kinds of hardships.

The song made a great contribution to development of revolutionary songs in the period of anti-Japanese armed struggle with its high ideological value and artistry.

The song displays its ideological influence to the full even today, too.

Many years have passed and the generations of our revolution have been replaced by new ones since the song was born, but the revolutionary spirit of those days is steadily carried forward.
