September has "the first dew" of the year which is the 15th of the 24 seasonal divisions according to the lunar calendar and the Autumnal Equinox Day.

This year "the first dew" of the year falls on September 7 and the Autumnal Equinox Day on September 22.

From September people begin to harvest all kinds of cereals and fruits.

In September we have a folk holiday Chusok (Harvest Moon Day).

This year Chusok falls on September 17.

Chusok means the evening of autumn (Harvest Moon Day).

On the Harvest Moon Day our people visit graves of ancestors to hold memorial services with foods of new crops of the year. This is the reflection of good manners and customs of our courteous people who are faithful to sense of obligation.

The foods on the Harvest Moon Day are multifarious and delicious. Among them are half-moon-shaped rice-cake and glutinous rice-cake.

On the Harvest Moon Day our people play folk games such as Ssirum (Korean wrestling), swinging and tug of war.
