Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea, president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and supreme commander of the armed forces of the DPRK, received a message of greeting from Thongloun Sisoulith, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and president of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, on September 9.

The Lao president in the message extended warm congratulations on behalf of the LPRP Central Committee and all the Lao people and on his own behalf to the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un and, through him, to the WPK Central Committee and all the fraternal Korean people on the 76th birthday of the DPRK.

I am very pleased over the fact that over the 76 years after its birth, the DPRK has made sustained and overall development under the vigorous and powerful leadership of the WPK, thus firmly ensuring the political stability, achieving continued economic growth, rapidly developing the national defence and security forces and improving the people’s standard of living, the message said, adding:

I will closely cooperate with you in strengthening and developing the long-standing friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries in order to bring more substantial benefits to their peoples and defend peace and stability and promote cooperation and development in the region and the rest of the world.

I am firmly convinced that the DPRK will achieve steady development and progress in attaining the goal of building a powerful socialist country under the courageous and powerful leadership of the WPK headed by you.

The message sincerely wished Kim Jong Un good health and happiness and greater fresh success in his noble and honorable work.
