Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, received a message of greeting from G. Zhuganov, chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, on Sept. 9.

In the message Zhuganov extended congratulations to Kim Jong Un on the 76th birthday of the DPRK, the significant day of the Korean people.

After the all-people elections, the DPRK, a socialist state liberated from the oppression of Japanese militarism, emerged on the world map on September 9, 1948 with Pyongyang as its capital city, the message said, adding:

The DPRK has turned into a prospering country thanks to Comrade Kim Il Sung and Comrade Kim Jong Il and the most respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.

You are creditably carrying forward the cause of the preceding leaders.

These successes could be achieved, thanks to your strong political will and indomitable spirit and the efforts and devotion of the Korean people who have made significant contributions to the prosperity and future of their country.

Our two countries are interested in strengthening the strategic cooperation in all possible fields despite a number of global difficulties and challenges and should make every effort necessary to develop planned cooperation.

I am sure that our two countries can cope with international threats only when they make concerted efforts.

The message wished Kim Jong Un good health and success in his energetic work for the prosperity of all the Korean people.
