Mt Myohyang is famous not only in the DPRK but also in the world.

The Myohyangsan Biosphere Sanctuary was registered as the third World Network of Biosphere Reserves in the DPRK in May Juche 98 (2009). It situates in Hyangsan County and Huichon City of Jagang Province, Kujang County of North Phyongan Province and Nyongwon County of South Phyongan Province.

The biosphere sanctuary is a typical temperate mountain ecosystem and a center of gene, species and ecosystem diversity in the country.

A wide variety of species is growing, from lowland to highland plants in the biosphere sanctuary. It is also inhabited by hundreds of kinds of vertebrates including dozens of mammals and more than one hundred of species of birds.

It houses tens of endangered and endemic species of plants and dozens of endangered species of animals.

There are also the International Friendship Exhibition House, a treasure house in praise of the great men, and many precious cultural sites and beautiful sceneries. The Myohyangsan Biosphere Sanctuary is a wonderful tourist resort.
