Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea, president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and supreme commander of the armed forces of the DPRK, received a message of greeting from Thongloun Sisoulith, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and president of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, on October 10.

The message said:

Dear Comrade Kim Jong Un,

I extend warm congratulations and best wishes on behalf of the party, the state and people of Laos to you Comrade and, through you, to the Central Committee and all members of the WPK and the fraternal Korean people on the occasion of the 79th founding anniversary of the WPK (October 10, 1945-Ocotber 10, 2024).

As close friends, we are proud of the fact that the WPK has defended the gains of the revolution and made important and comprehensive successes in socialist construction by leading the country and people over the past 79 years and believe that the party, the government and people of the DPRK would continue to make achievements in victoriously implementing the decisions made at the Eighth Party Congress and building a socialist power under the correct and powerful leadership of the WPK headed by you Comrade, the message said, and went on:

I hope that I will discuss with you Comrade the matters for steadily developing in depth the friendly and cooperative relations between the two parties, two states and two peoples of Laos and the DPRK with a long tradition in conformity with the interests of the two peoples, regional and global peace, stability, cooperation and development in the near future.

Availing myself of this auspicious opportunity, I wish you Comrade good health, happiness and success in accomplishing your noble cause.

I offer my comradely tribute to you.
