10 Years’ Devotion of Warm Love and Tender Feelings

2024.10.16.

Won Son Hui, a worker of the State Planning Commission, bonded with Ri Kyong Il, a special-class disabled soldier residing in neighborhood unit No. 4 of Wolhyang-dong, Moranbong District.

When she visited Ri’s for the first time, Won got impressed by a picture of Ri and his wife Kim Myong Hui who decided to live with the man who lost his two legs.

Won admired Kim for her choice. Gazing at the picture, she thought of her mother.

Her mother took care of her father who was a disabled soldier but never complained about the inward difficulties she underwent.

Won felt a lump in her throat thinking that she met someone as laudable as her mother.

This excitement made her want to make devotions for the disabled soldiers.

Later, Won frequently visited the disabled soldier.

She didn’t visit him only on holidays and high days.

She visited Ri on sultry summer days, anxious about Ri’s health who had heart trouble, and brought with her warm clothes when winter came.

When she had special delicacies, she brought them to the disabled soldier even late at night.

One day, Kim was surprised to receive from Won a new gas cooker.

She felt so thankful to her, who understood the trouble of the housewife.

In those days, Won nearly became a member of the disabled soldier’s family. Better still, the Party members who were in the same cell as Won also frequented the house.

Five years ago, when their Party cell won the honor of a loyal cell, the Party members reflected their determination to invariably take good care of Ri’s family in their letter to the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un.

Since then, Won has kept the pledge in her heart all the time.

In summer a few years ago, Ri was staying at the hospital, discouraged by his bad condition.

At that time, Won cheered him up not to lose his heart and encouraged him to concentrate on the treatment.

She visited him almost every day, with thick meat broth one day and with tonics one night.

It was none other than Won who, on hearing that Ri’s second daughter became a university student in the spring last year, offered her congratulations before anyone else and presented various school things to her.

Ri said as follows:

"Those who know money alone and think only of themselves cannot imagine nor understand such beautiful deeds. They can be found only in the great garden of noble virtue and deeds cultured by our Party."
