Ri Ae Ryong is an ordinary doctor at the Mangyongdae District Hospital.

During the scores of years she perfectly acquainted herself with therapies with needles and moxibustion drawing great attentions at home and abroad.

From her early years she has devoted her ardent enthusiasm to the health improvement of the people.

Even after graduating from Pyongyang University of Medicine, she read a lot of preceding data and practiced with needles and moxibustion to be a Korean medicine doctor.

She successfully treated eye disease, gastro hemorrhage, hemorrhoids and serious diseases and made numerous children grow tall.

After receiving the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un’s instructions for developing Koryo medicine, she deeply felt that it is the honorable duty to scientifically establish her therapies and develop the traditional medicine of the country.

She buckled down to the research while treating patients and officials of the relevant fields positively helped her.

Thanks to her devoted efforts her therapy of moxibustion was registered as an intangible cultural heritage of the nation in January 2015.

Not resting on her laurels, she steadily strove to apply therapy with needles to the refractory diseases.

So, after seven years since then her therapy with needles was registered as an intangible cultural heritage of the nation.

Now she is working hard to hand over her therapies to the rising medical workers while treating patients although she is nearly 70.

The two certificates of intangible cultural heritage of the nation reflect the ardent desire of a doctor to defend and glorify the national history and tradition to the last moment of her life.
