The South Hamgyong Province took the second place at the Ssirum(Korean wrestling) team event of the 12th National Folk Sports Contest of Agricultural Workers. The news became a topic of the talks of the participants in the contest and other people, because the team was unknown and all the members for Ssirum event were employees of the Raha Fruit Farm in Pukchong County.

An official of the fruit farm proudly said that a distinguished pride was brought about thanks to the brisk mass sports activities the farm has conducted true to the Party’s intention to make the agricultural workers into the masters of civilization as early as possible.

According to him, the employees of the fruit farm failed to pay attention to the folk sports in the past as they were busy with cultivating fruit trees. However, the officials of the farm took the lead in participating in the folk sports and the atmosphere of the farm became lightened.

At recesses, the employees have played Ssirum to bring about laughter. In particular, the whole fruit farm was in festive mood when the Ssirum contest among workteams was held. So, the fruit farm has always won the Ssirum contests being held in the county.

Now all the employees of the farm vie with each other to play Ssirum and the folk sports makes the collective harmonious and elated.

On the day when the members of Ssirum event team returned, an elder expressed a great pleasure saying that ordinary farmers are involved in the study-while-you-work system to learn agricultural science and technology and become famous sportsmen.

Pride of Ssirum at the fruit farm in Pukchong County, this is a part showing the reality in which mountains, streams and people change in the new era of rural development opened by our Party.
