Families of Transmission Line Layers Full of Pride

Quite a few transmission line layers are those who have taken up the occupation after their preceding generations.

Among them is Won Myong Jin, the vice-commander of the Construction Corps No. 1.

There’s a pride he has cherished in his heart for tens of years since his kindergarten days.

It is that his maternal grandfather is the prototype of the central figure of the feature film "Eagles on the Hill" and a hero.

He learnt about the work from his grandfather and was told stories about feats of the transmission line layers from his father, who had also worked for long at the station.

After graduating from middle school, he readily applied for the transmission line laying station.

He has worked devotedly and unhesitatingly done difficult jobs.

Finally, he took part in the celebrations of the 90th founding anniversary of the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army and had a souvenir picture taken with the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un.

Kim Myong Chan, who started the job like his father, Hero Kim Yong Thae, was decorated with his first merit medal at the age of nineteen.

Following the examples of the former generations are many other transmission line layers of the new generation including Ri Hak Chol, a grandson of Comrade Ri Yong Bin, who was a deputy of worker origin and a labor hero.

They are laudable persons, indeed, who work by the sweat of the brows with pride that they are honorable transmission line layers remembered by the country and loved by the people.

Collier Family in Ryongdung Coalfield

The family of Rim Kwi Song, a coal miner of Ansim Pit in the Ryongdung Coal Mine, is an ordinary family which can be seen everywhere.

What was unusual is that Rim’s grandpa and father worked as one-time colliers there.

His grandfather and father devoted their all to coal production for decades whether they were recognized or not and whether they were appreciated or not.

When Rim returned home after military service last year his mother said to him that a few years ago, Rim’s father looked at Rim’s photo taken in military uniform for a while before his death and requested to the mother to train his son as a true collier upholding the country with increased coal production after the military service.

Rim remembered his grandfather and father who had been familiar from his childhood. And he could even hear their voices saying that they had lived with coal for all life but they would have been happy to dig more coal as much as they could.

He made a firm determination to glorify his all life like the preceding generations by carrying forward their noble mental world.

The decision was followed by practice. He learned hard to master his job as soon as possible and in those days, he was attached to his job.

Thus, Rim grew up to be an innovator who always displays high sense of responsibility and sincerity in his work and a true coal miner deeply rooted in the Ryongdung coal field, following his grandfather and father.
