2024.10.29.
On April 9 last year, several ambulances hurriedly entered the front gate of the South Phyongan Provincial General Hospital with honks.
Its medical workers, who were on standby in full preparations, carried patients on stretchers into treatment room in a hurry.
The patients were Cha Kwang Chol, Kim Song Il and Yun Gyong, workers of the Phyongsong Artificial Leather Factory, who were wounded during their work.
Hwang Song Chol, the technical vice-director of the hospital, and other medical workers took immediate measures for treating them.
Officials of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea arrived at the hospital at that time.
One of them politely conveyed the instructions of the respected General Secretary
The moment, the medical workers felt a lump in their throats.
They hardened their determination to restore the patients’ health to the original state at any cost as intended by the respected General Secretary.
There were consultations several times every day and new treatment methods were applied one after another. Also even a drug prescription was selected in a responsible manner while carefully considering the patients’ conditions.
Thanks to the warm sincerity of the medical workers, Kim Song Il and Yun Gyong regained their health in scores of days and left the hospital.
But Cha was still at dangerous state.
The medical workers made painstaking efforts to save Cha who was at the crossroads of life and death due to severe complex trauma and profuse bleeding.
The patient’s life indices gradually stabilized and, finally, he regained consciousness, but it is no more than a beginning.
The patient was in severe pain owing to the fractured and broken femurs and knees as well as the skin peeled off, and the skin was completely exposed.
Such facts were facing the medical workers as difficult problems.
The hospital took all necessary measures for the treatment of the patient. The patient was treated transferring to various departments.
During the treatment, doctors and nurses in charge of Cha changed several times, but their sincerities were the same.
One midnight, Ri Chol Ho, department head of the Orthopaedic microsurgery Research Laboratory, saw a researcher Ri Chol Yong who was simulating the operation of a new method, and advised him to take a rest.
But he said that his work could not be compared to Cha’s pain.
And the medical workers of the hospital, including director Ri Yong Gil, department heads Kim Son Gil and Choe Kyong Ho, doctor Kim Hak Jun and Kim Jae Hyon, pooled their efforts and wisdom and led the patient to resuscitation with greater sincerity and noble humanity.
In those days, there was no end in the devotion of medical workers to the ordinary worker.
Those touching stories were not registered even in clinical charts or medical diaries, but all their sincerity flew into the patient’s body like blood.
Not only the medical workers but also senior officials of the South Phyongan Provincial Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea visited the hospital frequently to acquaint themselves with the patient’s condition in detail and actively helped his treatment.
Officials and employees of the Phyongsong Artificial Leather Factory, too, visited Cha with their family members on holidays and rest days.
And they newly arranged his house lest he should feel inconveniences in life after discharge from hospital.
Indeed, they were kinsmen of Cha.
On October 9, the day before the founding anniversary of the WPK, Cha left the hospital amid the congratulations of officials.
He said, with emotion, to the congratulators.
"I will devote my new life given by the respected General Secretary to the motherly Party and country."
Kim Song Il and Yun Gyong felt the same way.
Such touching stories about the ordinary workers are not ones that canbe heard in any society.
It is an emotional picture that can be seen only inour socialist system led by the great father who loves the working people most.
