Shortly ago, Jangsong-ri in Ongjin County, a tideland village, made big hauls in the fishpond built by itself.
Such gratifying scenery delighted villagers, irrespective of adults and children.
To tell the truth, the villagers had never expected to breed catfishes in their locality until a year ago.
All the farmers had striven to build the fishpond. They had made a long journey several times for securing fry and passed many nights without sleep to settle the sci-tech problems related to breeding fishes.
But their efforts to breed fish in fresh water were not realized because of the abnormal weather conditions. It was difficult to secure even water needed for the fish pond under the conditions of failing to properly supply the water used in farming work.
As time passed, the thought of the fishpond was gradually effaced from the people’s memory.
Then a glad news was reported to them that with the completion of the project for desalting Lake Kangryong, the fresh water would flow into their locality which has suffered trouble over water.
Upon hearing the news, inhabitants danced with joy, and called the water "life-giving water".
They have filled up the fishpond with water to raise fishes as big as forearm since then and there appeared the above-said pride.
The pride in fish farming always became the main topic in the letters to the married daughters and the sons during military service.
Such a dreamlike reality is a picture that can be born under the leadership of our Party which cares for and puts forward our farmers so much.
Therefore, the inhabitants unanimously say as follows:
"It was difficult for us to taste fresh-water fish before, but now we are so pleased to enjoy its taste thanks to the benevolence of the respected General Secretary
Herein lies their firm pledge to do more good work for repaying the boundless benevolence of the respected General Secretary who are concerned so much for and devotes his tireless efforts to training our farmers as creators and enjoyers of socialist rural civilization.
