Horse Riding
Horse riding is one of the sports events in which people compete who can ride faster and show witty skills on the horse.
Our country has a very long history in managing horse. From long ago, the Korean people have raised many native horses suitable for the mountainous and rugged terrain conditions.
The excellent horse-riding technique of our ancestors has been carried forward and developed on a high level with the addition of such skills as handling weapons and overcoming obstacles. The best riders in the history of our country were Koguryo people.
The technical aspects of riding include preparation for riding a horse, getting friendly with a horse, method of getting on and off a horse, standard sitting posture and learning footpace, trot, canter, etc.
The most conspicuous is horsemanship.
Horsemanship literally means performance of tricks including standing on a horse, turning body side to side holding the saddle and dragging feet by clinging to the horse.
Our country has excellent conditions for wholesome horse-riding.
The Mirim Riding Club was built under the loving care of the Workers’ Party of Korea and thus the enthusiasm for riding horse is growing stronger among working people and youth and children.
Making Soy and Bean Paste
The history of making soy and bean paste in our country is very long.
According to historical data, our people called the soy and bean paste "si" and "jang" in the first period and eventually as "jang" (soy and bean paste). The word "meju" (soybean malt) was the name of "jang".
Later, it was used to refer to the basic material of the "jang". Early in the period, our people mixed with salt boiled beans fermented in straw on a warm floor.
It was just today’s "fermented beans".
After that, they grinded the dried fermented soybean and soaked in saline water to eat. Later, they found that the substances in the "jang" have good effect on not only health and but also the treatment and prevention of cerebral thrombosis.
Now, wheat paste is widely used in people’s dietary life, bettering their life.
