A Story Told by a Woman
Kim Song Chol, a disabled soldier, lives in Sinson-dong, Sinuiju City.
Not long ago, his mother told us a touching story.
The story goes as follows:
Six years ago her son was discharged from the military service, being a disabled soldier. Some days later, a couple called on her family to inquire about her son’s health state.
Next day, the couple visited again her family taking medicines and nourishing foods with them to cheer her son.
Since then, they have frequently visited him and also their children would call on him when they were busy with affairs.
However, Kim and his mother did not know their address and even names.
After a long period, Kim and his mother found that they were Ri Song Jin and his wife Myong Chang Sin residing in neighborhood village, Ponbu-dong.
It was her son’s birthday a year ago.
Unexpectedly, Kim was visited by the couple and their two daughters.
Kim and his mother were very touched when they knew that Myong Chang Sin hurried to return from sanatorium for celebrating Kim’s birthday.
Thanks to their sincerity, now the disabled soldier is in much better health and devotes his efforts to the prosperity of the country.
Indeed, the touching story told by the woman is a praise of our society in which all the people live in harmony while regarding other’s trouble as their own and helping each other.
