Genuine Meaning of Patriotism He Taught

Politics 2024.5.10.

One April day in Juche 106(2017), the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un inspected a newly-built pig farm.

He firstly dropped in at its general control room and acquainted himself with the proportion of localization of equipment.

After setting the struggle for localization as an important work for keeping the lifeline of self-supporting economy, the factory has waged the vigorous struggle for it and thus raised the proportion of localization.

Being informed about that, the respected General Secretary was so pleased at the fact that the factory ensured the proportion of localization in building the pig farm in line with the Party’s policy.

And then he said that a lot of equipment should be manufactured in cooperation with our scientists and technicians, stressing that just doing so is genuine patriotism.

Looking up to him, accompanying officials lost in deep thought.

The General Secretary has expressed great satisfaction whenever he sees the signal successes made in the struggle for localization by highly displaying the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance.

Wherever he visits, he always stresses the need to constantly hold fast to the principle of giving priority to self-development, and implant deeply in their mind the importance of making our own laudable things.

But the officials could not understand his deep intention until then.

While looking round the factory that day, the General Secretary reached the front of the oil press room.

Through the explanation of the official, he recognized at once that the oil press was a foreign one.

And he said that when the proportion of localization of equipment and materials is raised, various industrial sectors including the country’s machine-building industry could be developed and flunkeyism and the proclivity to import remaining in the minds of the people be rooted out, stressing that the proclivity to import is the beginning of national ruin.

The officials were greatly shocked by his saying, because some machines in the factory were imported ones and there were also home-made ones not inferior to imported ones.

Indeed, it was the precious instruction that made the officials understand the fact that the issue of raising the proportion of localization of equipment and materials is the one related to the country’s economic development, not merely a practical one, and also important one to implant in the minds of the people the spirit of self-reliance that they should not depend on others’ strength but develop everything by their own efforts.

That day the General Secretary deeply inoculated the officials with his noble intention that the genuine patriotism means keeping and glorifying our own things.

The unforgettable story of that day vigorously inspires all the people in the country to the struggle for producing much more creations on this land that can be proudly said our own things by our own strength.
