Celtis sinensis (Chinese Hackberry) is a tall broadleaf tree belonging to Ulmaceae.

The tree spreads numerous branches and the color of its bark is gray.

Its appearance is good and clean, so people plant the tree in parks, gardens and surroundings of rural villages.

Chinese Hackberry at Riwon is growing at Kokgu-ri near the East Sea, about 10km far from the seat of Riwon County to the northeast.

The tree was planted in about 1730.

Its height is 27m, girth of its root neck 3.3m, girth of its breast height 2.4m and width of its crown is about 15m.

The tree blossoms in May and June and its fruits ripen in September.

Chinese Hackberry at Riwon is the tallest and oldest one among hackberry trees in our country. The tree is of academic significance and a living monument enhancing the beauty of scenery.
