Officials and builders of the North Phyongan Provincial Tideland Reclamation General Enterprise completed a major dyke project for linking land to an island by hastening the construction of the Aedo Tideland in hearty response to the decision of the 9th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK).
Its construction is a project to greatly contribute to the country’s agricultural development by damming up the rough sea of the west and acquiring thousands of hectares of new land.
The builders of the tideland turned out as one for the project, fully charging the spirit of implementing the Party’s decision at the risk of their lives.
The enterprise deployed the main building forces in the areas of the Ilhae-ri, Sinbong-ri and others in Jongju City and pushed ahead with the project extending tens of ri in a three-dimensional way. It also dynamically conducted organization and command through frontline-style political work to give full play to the mental power of the masses. In particular, it carried out hundreds of times of large and small blasting to secure the rubble stones and soil while paying deep attention to the work for increasing the operating rate of equipment and heavy machines to the maximum by bringing the repair base close to the worksite.
And it kindled the flames of the mass-based technological innovation movement through sci-tech prize contests and festivals for introducing advanced construction methods, thus providing a guarantee for ensuring both quality and speed of the project.
Meanwhile, the State Planning Commission and many other units rendered material and moral assistance to the project, with the patriotic will to expand the land of the country.
The project was completed on Nov.8 amid the high enthusiasm of the builders for successfully implementing the Party’s policy on tideland reclamation without an inch of deflection.
Now the officials and builders of the enterprise are making continuous innovations and progress to complete the first waterproofing project for the Aedo Tideland by the end of the year without slackening their high spirits.
