Japanese Yew of Mt Oga, Natural Monument

The Ogasan Nature Reserve is surrounded by natural virgin forests.

There grows the Japanese yew (Taxus cuspidata) of Mt Oga, the oldest tree in the mountain.

The Japanese yew of Mt Oga grows in thick verdure although it is more than 1 100 years old.

The height of the tree is 16.5m, girth of its root neck 4.1m, girth of its breast height 3.6m and width of its crown is about 7m.

The tree is the tallest and oldest one among Taxus cuspidata in our country. It is a precious natural wealth of the country witnessing natural history of Mt Oga and a natural monument which is of significance of scientific research.
