On July 7, 1995, one day before the inauguration of the then Kumsusan Memorial Palace, many people were working to lay out the green area along the road between an underground railway station and the memorial palace.
As they were working, a tram was seen coming along the newly laid rails towards them from the palace.
Some stopped working, and looked up to see the tram.
"The Chairman is on the tram!"
"Hurrah! Hurrah!"
The shouts were followed by thunderous cheers, and people rushed towards the moving tram, only to see the Chairman.
Having talks with officials in the tram, Chairman
The tram stopped, surrounded by the cheering crowd.
The people hedging in the tram closer and closer, an official persuaded them to make way for it as the Chairman was busy.
Then they moved out of the rails; the tram accelerated towards the palace, and yet the cheering continued behind it.
The Chairman, looking back again and again, said in choking voice that our people are really good and when thinking that he is breathing and working with such people, he has made up his mind to strive harder for the revolution.
The scene unfolded that day was a most genuine one which cannot be cooked up or built.
It is, indeed, a picture showing how fervent the feelings of kinship between the Chairman and the people are and an epitome of our country in which the leader and the people become a harmonious whole.
