A national flag-hoisting ceremony was held at Kim Il Sung Square in Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK, on January 1, 2025 amid the full joy and excitement for celebrating the significant New Year.

The square was crowded with Pyongyangites seeing out 2024 recorded with eye-opening events and unforgettable stories and waiting for the moment of excitement to be filled with confidence in the new year.

At 00:00 sharp, a bell tolled the start of the New Year and melodies of the immortal revolutionary hymns "Song of General Kim Il Sung" and "Song of General Kim Jong Il" resounded in the sky above the capital city.

On behalf of the workers, peasants and intellectuals, model working people of the capital city courteously hoisted up the national flag amid the solemn playing of the national anthem of the DPRK.

Masses paid high tribute to the national flag of the DPRK which is fluttering invariably and more brilliantly on this land displaying the independent dignity and prestige of our powerful state and the destiny and rosy future of the people.

With the DPRK flag fluttering in the sky above the capital city, marvelous fireworks were displayed to celebrate the New Year.

Showing the pride and joy of the people of a powerful state who have grown up under the national flag of glory, the magnificent and bright fireworks redoubled all the people’s revolutionary will to dynamically accelerate the new historic advance for vigorously hastening the era of comprehensive prosperity of our state, praying for the prosperity of the country.
