War Veteran’s Guests
On the morning of the first day of the New Year, there was a knock at the door of Ra Ui Chon’s house.
Ra is a war veteran, residing in neighborhood-unit No. 10, Sonnae-dong of Mangyongdae District.
"A happy New Year, sir!"
Ra and his family were glad yet surprised.
Ho Pok Sun, manager of the Mangyongbong Tangsang Branch of the Mangyongdae Shop, who had visited the war veteran on his birthday with her family, entered the house with her employees.
They handed over valuable tonics and foodstuffs to Ra and said that it was their natural duty to visit the war veteran, who bravely fought at Height 1211, first on New Year’s Day.
Even when they left, other visitors arrived at the war veteran’s house one after another.
Indeed, only in our society, the atmosphere of respecting the preceding generation of revolution as true teachers and benefactors who handed over priceless spiritual legacy and material wealth prevailed on New Year’s Day.
Songs Sung with Orphans
Several persons visited Chongjin Orphanage on the morning of New Year’s Day to spend the holiday joyfully together with orphans.
Among them is Kim Song Hui living in Chongsong-dong No.1, Phohang District, Chongjin City.
Whenever visiting the orphanage, Kim devoted attentive feelings to the orphans and repeatedly called on nurses to bring them up excellently true to the intention of the respected General Secretary
She, who was laughing and singing mixed with the orphans, seemed to be a kinswoman.
Songs sung with orphans on New Year’s Day were ones in praise of the socialist system of our country which takes warm care of the orphans with parental affection, not merely an expression of pleasure.
