Among the waterfalls in Mt. Myohyang, one of famous mountains of the DPRK, are Ryongyon Falls and Sanju Falls.
Ryongyon Falls, which lies with a gentle gradient, is 84 meters high and 105 meters long.
It is called Ryongyon because the waterfall has a pond related to a legend on its top.
The water streaming down from the valley of Pobwang Peak fills this pond, 3 meters across and 1.5 meters deep, and then falls down to the rock to form the waterfall.
Ryongyon Falls was registered as a natural monument of the DPRK.
About 50 meters away from Ryongyon Falls is Sanju Falls.
These two falls are called twins because they run side by side with each other with the Sangwon Hermitage in the center.
Sanju Falls, with a steep gradient, is 29 meters high and 51 meters long.
As time passes by, these falls add much to the beautiful scenery of Mt. Myohyang.
